Wszyscy o tej porze zapewne przewracali się z boku na bok, tymczasem dziś w godzinach wczesno-rannych czasu GMT+1, pojawiła się kolejna wersja najbardziej rozwijanego emulatora 8-bitowego Atari oraz konsoli 5200.
Co w niej znajdziemy nowego:
- 5200: Built-in database now provides mapper types for the popular cartridges, reducing the need to guess between 16K one-chip and two-chip.
- Cassette: Improved randomization, more boot options, improved acceleration support.
- Development: Many fixes to coprocessor debugging on Veronica or disk drives, export profiling data, capture debugger logs.
- Devices: Attach multiple SCSI devices to the emulated BlackBox or MIO, change the PBI device ID on your IDE+2. Accuracy fixes for VBXE and modems.
- Disk drives: Full emulation of popular disk drives, including: 810, 1050, US Doubler, Happy 810/1050, 1050 Turbo, Speedy 1050, XF551, Indus GT, and ATR8000. Run the original firmware and utilities for the drives, even ones that upload custom code; see track buffering, LED displays, and even boot CP/M on the drive. Emulate multiple drives at once and reenact a multi-copy between them.
- Firmware: More fixes to the built-in firmware, and a new command to export the internal ROM sets for use on your real hardware or other emulators.
- Hardware: CTIA emulation, change 65C816 speed on the fly without restarting, ANTIC and POKEY accuracy fixes.
UI: Borderless mode, improved NTSC artifacting and default palettes, hold keys on reset, take screenshots with correct aspect ratio, confirm before reset or exit, improved XEP80 display support, resizable disk dialog with drag-and-drop support.

RECOIL (Retro Computer Image Library) wyświetla pliki graficzne w oryginalnych formatach starych komputerów. Obecnie RECOIL otwiera ponad 300 formatów plików z komputerów: Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Apple II, Atari 8-bitowe, Atari Portfolio, Atari ST/TT/Falcon, BBC Micro, Commodore 16, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Macintosh 128K, MSX, NEC PC-88, NEC PC-98, Oric, SAM Coupe, Sharp X68000, TRS-80, TRS-80 Color Computer, ZX81 i ZX Spectrum.
Program działa na platformach Android, Windows, macOS, Linux oraz w przeglądarkach obsługujących HTML 5.
W wersji 4.0.0 dodano kilkadziesiąt formatów Atari ST/TT/Falcon oraz kilka formatów 8-bitowego Atari, w tym częściowo G2F (z wyjątkiem programu rastra i trybów GTIA). Wprowadzono też drobne poprawki w formatach Amiga i ZX81.
Program można pobrać ze strony http://recoil.sourceforge.net/ a wkrótce nowa wersja będzie też dostępna w sklepach Android i Windows 10.
XEX2CAS 2.4

XEX2CAS jest przystosowaną do dzisiejszych realiów wersją znanego konwertera plików wykonywalnych do obrazów kaset dla Atari 8-bit. Program działa pod Windows, ale można go również skompilować dla systemów Linux.
Przed konwersją można wybrać jeden z sześciu loaderów (m.in. znany większości użytkowników "wykrzyknik").

W natłoku (przed)świątecznych obowiązków pominęliśmy nową wersję Atari++, emulatora ośmiobitowych komputerów Atari oraz konsoli Atari 5200. Lista nowości niezbyt imponująca:
- Fixed a bug in SIO that prevented correct emulation with the SIO patch enabled.
- Fixed a timing issue in the SIO emulation that sometimes returned a command acknowledge too early for the ROM codes to react.
- Fixed a minor bug in the Pokey SIO sound emulation of SIO.
- Fixed the command handling of the USDoubler disk drive emulation.
- Updated Os++, the build-in operating system. A bug in the screen-handler prevented that the screen goes back to the editor in case an already established text window is closed by a screen-open command.
- Minor cleanup in the command line of the built-in Dos of Os++.
- Updated Basic++ to the latest version 1.06.

Kolejna wersja pakietu do obsługi i konwersji programów, ukierunkowana na taśmy i systemy turbo przynosi następujące zmiany:
- Introduced a new file format and binary loader that allows for loading of binary files with minimum restrictions. With this enhancement, you can easily load the new-era games, such as RGB, Heli In The Caves, Swapz, and many more.
- Source code of the binary loader has been added to the updated loader package

Długo wyczekiwana wersja emulatora dużych Atari ujrzała światło dzienne. Garść udogodnień, ficzerów i poprawek. Fani emulacji serii STE znajdą kilka usprawnień. Nie gorzej poczują się także fani emulacji Falcona oraz TT.

Jak się można dowiedzieć z wątku na atariage - Curt Vendel udostępnił skany oryginalnych schematów POKEYa. Całość można ściągnąć z jego strony. Nie oczekujmy zbyt wiele (średniej jakości jpg-i w zzipowanym folderze), ale dadzą się spokojnie odczytać - mam nadzieję, że dzięki nim uda się odtworzyć część historii lub zaimplementować stereopokeya takiego, jakim są dwa połączone Pokeye.

Kolejna wersja pakietu do obsługi i konwersji programów, ukierunkowana na taśmy i systemy turbo przynosi następujące zmiany:
- Turbo decoder provides more detailed messages
- Messaging system of the turbo decoder completely redesigned
- Copy turbo decoder log to a clipboard with a single button click
- Verbose messages can be switched on using a single check box and are enabled by default
- Added Turbo 6000 plugin. Tested only using imperfectly hacked atari800-a8cas emulator
- Description of the file format added to the documentation
- Turbo 2000 and Super Turbo: Headers saved to external files by the turbo decoder contain hexadecimal dump of the file name, so no information is lost

Tworzący Turgen System Baktraa nie zwalnia tempa. W kolejnej wersji pakietu do obsługi taśm w 8-bit Atari zaserwował następujące nowości:
- Added support for the Unerring Master (UM) Atari Turbo System
- The Atari Super Turbo plugin can convert binary files to the Unerring Master turbo system
- The Wizard for binary files was enhanced to support the Unerring Master turbo system
- Description of the UM file format added to the documentation
- Turgen System now requires at least Java SE 6
- Omicron Turbo allows to select more transfer speeds. The only transfer speed recommended for mass distribution of tapes is 2270 bd.

Kolejna wersja Turgen System skupia się przede wszystkim na udoskonaleniu Omicron Turbo, czyli nowej generacji loadera, który obsługuje wszystkie najpopularniejsze systemy Turbo. Zmiany w tej wersji:
- Added support for the KSO Turbo 2000 upgrade (and compatibles) that reads signal from the joystick port
- Omicron Turbo loaders heavily refactored
- Cartridge and file versions of the Omicron Turbo Stage 0 loader are available in the latest loader package as binary images
- Loader package updated to version 1.17 with new Omicron Turbo loaders
- More configuration options are available for Omicron Turbo
- New version of the Omicron Turbo is not compatible with the previous one. The previous version is deprecated.
